Camping with Megan

Camp McDowell are 3 day adventure!

The Girls in the cabin aka the Gray Squirrels

Day #1 Class: Survival & Maps- While on our hike we stopped and learned about shelters, than each team had to make a shelter for a gnome. After the shelter building experience they were broken into 2 teams and went on a map scavenger hunt.

Day 2-Morning class: Coal mining and Reclamation- Went across the swinging bridge and then hiked to a water fall and saw where the land had been reclaimed after coal mining.

Mining for chocolate using a toothpick, then putting the cookie back together after removing all the chocolate.

Afternoon Class: Native Americans

Megan getting her face painted to represent the sun because she was cheerful and made others happy.

Day 3: Stream and Pond- Megan loved catching things in the stream and pond and then observing them in the container afterwards.

Megan had a great time at Camp McDowell and was sad to leave. We also had 2 night classes which where Pioneers where she dipped a candle, sawed a log, and learned to make yarn into a bracelet. The other class was Birds and Snakes where Megan got to pet an owl and hold a snake.
